Contouring is not a new trend. Made famous by celebrities and the world we live in where Instagram is ever-present, contouring makeup actually started long ago in the theatre. To accentuate the appearance of the heroine, paints would be used to make her appear more dramatically beautiful to the audience even from a distance, carefully sculpting her face with the illusion of makeup. Instagram is a hotbed of new techniques to appear more striking, and contouring had its peak popularity when Kim Kardashian started releasing tutorials of her makeup routine. But, now that 2019 is almost here, I believe that we should embrace and enhance our natural facial structure and not paint over it. With the question of being overdone and altered a constant in our online society, I believe that unnoticable enhancements to the facial structure are far more beautiful, natural, and long-lasting than the cosmetic counterpart.
An Artist’s Eye
As an artist, I have a natural appreciation for beauty, and those that also try to attain it – from stage paints through to makeup, we are all artists searching for perfection. But as time rolls on, we get inevitably older and our means of looking youthful can become outdated, unsuccessful, or unsuitable for our face shape. I firmly believe that the key to maintaining a youthful appearance can be found in contouring – but not the makeup kind.
Facial contouring, or facial sculpting, is one of my signature non-invasive treatments that I offer at my clinic, and it has become increasingly popular as of late. As we age, our skin can lose vitality and fullness due to our reduced natural production of collagen cells, which help us to retain hydration and elasticity. Over time, our skin begins to loosen, sag, and wrinkle, which are the primary signs of aging. Facial contouring with dermal fillers, when properly considered and administered using my signature techniques and artistic flair, can rejuvenate the face and plump up hollow areas that have lost volume with age. Facial contouring can also help to redefine areas of lost definition as your skin has changed shape over the years.
Following an initial consultation where I will get to know your desired results and assess your face, I will design a treatment plan that will suit and enhance your natural facial structure. Facial contouring is most effective when it is used sparingly to plump areas of lost volume; lift areas that have fallen; add more symmetry to the face; and correct the proportions of your facial features. The most common treatments I provide are cheekbone definition and cheek fillers, to restore a youthful, glowing facial structure and improve the appearance of your skin’s health. Similarly, jawline definition and chin augmentation can make your facial outline appear softer, more feminine, and ultimately more youthful. Restoring lost volume to the temples, raising the brows slightly, and smoothing the contours of the nose will also contribute a softer overall look to your appearance, making you look as beautiful and youthful as you feel – even when your makeup comes off at the end of the day.
Facial contouring is a virtually painless procedure, carried out through tiny needles and microcannulas to correctly and accurately accentuate your naturally gorgeous facial structure. While fillers can also be used to smooth fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, nose and forehead, targeted facial contouring can have a far more dramatic effect when it comes to increasing its anti-aging effects, and prevents the face from appearing too fixed. With my leading aesthetic medicine techniques and my creative background, I can achieve unrivalled results in facial contouring by considering what will work best for each of my individual clients, from a scientific and from an aesthetic point of view.
