Facial skin aside, one of our patients’ next most popular areas of treatment is the neck. But this needn’t come as a surprise. Thanks to improper skincare routines between the chin and the chest, the neck is often the first part of the body to fall prey to the early signs of ageing.
It doesn’t help, of course, that the skin on our necks is also much thinner than it is nearly everywhere else, with ignorance of appropriate sun protection measures and the habit of looking down at our phones merely compounding the saggy, sun-damaged misery.
At Dr Rasha Clinic, London, we use the NuEra device to perform the majority of our neck tightening treatments and we truly believe that this is one of the most effective anti-ageing procedures on the market.
Why Is Neck Tightening So Popular?
As mentioned above, patients seek out neck tightening simply because the skin on this region of the body is more vulnerable to ageing. Collagen, the protein that controls the tautness and elasticity of the skin, begins to disappear as we age, and though this affects the entire body, the neck’s natural thinness makes it more of a target for wrinkles, sagging, skin laxity and pigmentation concerns. Not to mention that the neck isn’t exactly blessed with much collagen, to begin with.
Can Neck Ageing Be Managed At Home?
There is much that can be done to slow the neck’s ageing process, but you may find that engaging in such preventative measures is too little, too late. To make sure, we’d advise the daily use of a good quality SPF (30 or higher) to safeguard against UV radiation and incorporating anti-ageing products such as retinol and hyaluronic acid into your regular skincare routine. Another tip would be to lift your phone up to your face to save gazing downwards or perhaps limiting your device usage altogether.
