TREATMENT

DERMAL FILLERS FOR MARIONETTE LINES

ARTISTIC AESTHETIC MEDICINE

Treatment overview

Over time, deep wrinkles can form on either side of the chin extending vertically from the jawline up to the outer corners of the mouth. These have come to be known as ‘marionette lines’ due to their striking resemblance to the lines around the mouth of a marionette puppet, but they can leave you looking and feeling more like a dummy than a doll. They occur as a result of a combination of the natural ageing processes and the effects of constant muscle movement beneath the skin from years of laughter and smiles.

While these lines can represent a lifetime of happiness and memories for many people, others suffer a knock to their confidence as a result of this clear indication of premature ageing. At the Dr Rasha Clinic, Dr Rasha Rakhshani recommends hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers to volumise the skin from within for a more natural, youthful appearance.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

At the Dr Rasha Clinic, we have a number of HA fillers that are made up of different strengths, and Dr Rasha will advise which type is best suited to treat your marionette lines. Dr Rasha likes to use Teoxane and Juvederm, and has both of these brands available at the clinic.

Using her unique and artistic technique, Dr Rasha will skillfully administer the filler to fill out and improve the appearance of your marionette lines. The best results from this treatment should be noticeable in about 4 weeks, and results can last between 6 to 12 months, at which time a top up treatment will be recommended in order to maintain results.

You may experience mild pain and slight discomfort during the procedure, but numbing cream is available if this is a worry for you. You may also experience a bit of bruising or swelling in the treated area, but this will subside after a few days and can be covered up quite easily with makeup. Dr Rasha will provide in-depth aftercare advice for all of her patients, and most patients return to their usual daily activities immediately post-treatment.
