TREATMENT

Dermaplaning

ARTISTIC AESTHETIC MEDICINE

Treatment overview

Dermaplaning is a treatment that removes the upper layers of the skin, and by doing so, improves the overall complexion and minimises the appearance of a number of skin concerns. As a result, the severity of fine lines, wrinkles, and scarring are reduced, and the skin appears smoother, brighter, and more youthful.

During dermaplaning treatment, an exfoliating blade is used to remove dead and congested skin cells from the face. During this process, hairs in the target area, including fine “peach fuzz”, are also removed from the skin. This removes the tissue that may be affecting the texture and tone of the skin, allowing newer and healthier skin cells to show through and improving smoothness. The procedure is not painful, though many patients experience a slight tingling sensation from the exfoliation process. The blade is moved across the skin at a 45-degree angle for around 20 to 30 minutes for optimal results.

Before any treatment at the Dr Rasha Clinic in Mayfair, all patients will attend an initial consultation with our specialist team. During the consultation, we will take the time to get to know your skin, any concerns you may have, and form a bespoke treatment plan to address your needs and desires. For more information, or to schedule your consultation, please get in touch.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Dermaplaning is an incredibly safe treatment for most people. In the majority of cases, there are very few side effects. Patients may experience a slight redness in the treatment area, or develop acne in the form of whiteheads that should subside fairly swiftly after treatment. Patients should take care to avoid sun exposure, as damage caused by the sun can reverse the effects of treatment or cause areas of hyperpigmentation.

For most patients, there is no downtime after the procedure, and they may return to their normal routine immediately, as long as Dr Rasha’s aftercare advice is adhered to.

The benefits of dermaplaning should be evident for around three weeks after treatment. Immediately after treatment, you may notice a brighter, less dull appearance, though it make take a few days for results to become fully evident.

Dermaplaning can be used on any skin type to treat a variety of conditions, including acne scarring, dull skin, sun damage, or the signs of ageing. During your consultation, Dr Rasha and her team will assess your suitability for dermaplaning by analysing the skin and your medical history.
