Treatment overview
Dermaplaning is a treatment that removes the upper layers of the skin, and by doing so, improves the overall complexion and minimises the appearance of a number of skin concerns. As a result, the severity of fine lines, wrinkles, and scarring are reduced, and the skin appears smoother, brighter, and more youthful.
During dermaplaning treatment, an exfoliating blade is used to remove dead and congested skin cells from the face. During this process, hairs in the target area, including fine “peach fuzz”, are also removed from the skin. This removes the tissue that may be affecting the texture and tone of the skin, allowing newer and healthier skin cells to show through and improving smoothness. The procedure is not painful, though many patients experience a slight tingling sensation from the exfoliation process. The blade is moved across the skin at a 45-degree angle for around 20 to 30 minutes for optimal results.
